Project Description

The design of Castle Pines Orthodontics was a collaborative effort with Dr. Dunbar and his support staff.  Access to each patient as well as to the Sterile and Lab areas was the prime driver to the organization of the spaces for this particular suite.

Located on the second floor of The Medical and Dental Center of Castle Pines, this office benefits from tons of soft natural early light in its public areas and diffused westerly light in the private spaces.

Dr. Dunbar, a car enthusiast, requested to incorporate a (3) car garage into the building.  This was achieved by granting access into the building and his own private door into the North Staircase, to provide him a separate entrance to his Suite away from the reception area.

The office is accessible to the public from the second floor of the Main Gallery.  The staff has private access through a common private corridor that leads straight into a fully accessible break room and lockers, next to a kitchenette to make this space feel cozy and inviting.  The break room offers uninterrupted views towards the mountains and access to the common roof deck.

Understanding the demographics of an orthodontics office with 90% of its clientele being under 18, it was design with the intent to make the spaces welcoming and exciting.  A large area in the front provides a niche for video games and a reading space next to a fire place for parents to relax.  The reception area is bound by a wainscot of reclaimed wood that cements the appeal of new, with conservation, and adaptive re-use.  The fire place and natural light, ties the space together to make this a welcoming space that is difficult to leave.

The office offers two fully accessible rest rooms as well as areas for parents to accompany their children in the procedure areas.

There are (5) open exam operatories with ample space for parents and siblings to be able to sit.  The ceilings of these exam rooms have been provided with seasonal imagery to assist in relaxation.  In addition, there are two private Consultation / Exam Rooms that are fully accessible and may be used should sedation be necessary.

Support spaces include an open Sterilization Area, Laboratory and X-Ray.

In addition, Dr. Dunbar has access to a centralized private office and rest room.

This practice benefits from tons of natural light on all four walls of its office, from the obvious exterior windows as well as interior transom, high windows into the Gallery.
